ca. 1954-1960 - Beethoven - Piano Sonata No. 31 in A flat Major, Op. 110
Masterclass fragment recording - These recordings are excerpts from masterclasses made between 1954-1960 at the École Normale de Musique de Paris. During these masterclasses, Cortot made demonstrations at the piano of various works, many of which he never recorded commercially, offering insight into his musical thought that is available nowhere else. The material was edited down from the original tape recordings made by an engineering student and published in the "Alfred Cortot - The Master Classes" CD boxset, produced by Murray Perahia and issued by Sony Classical.
